30 years of growth and development
Summary
The analysis of engineering works in the field of water supply and sanitation indicates that the market demands are much higher than the supply. The time it takes to establish a qualified engineering company is 7–10 years. As experience shows there should be continuity in engineering; it requires personnel of various qualifications who can work in one team. The period 2015–2020 is characterized by significant growth of both the Ecopolymer Group of companies and, first of all, MY PROJECT engineering company. MY PROJECT simultaneously implements 16–18 large-scale integrated projects with up to 20 packages each. All stages of design work are supervised by a project engineering manager (PEM). A great deal of experience has been accumulated in undergoing the environmental and technical expertise of projects for the reconstruction of large-scale treatment facilities with a capacity of more than 50 thousand m3/day. In the last two years alone, 15 positive expert opinions have been received. The products of Ecopolymer Manufacturing Enterprise (Kaluga Region) are not only highly competitive in efficiency and quality with imported counterparts, but in a number of types of equipment are superior to them - the import phaseout program is in full play. The products of «Ecopolymer» ME are recommended by the RF Ministry of Construction for the introduction at the enterprises of housing and utilities infrastructure of the Russian Federation suggesting the reliability and quality of the equipment.

Common problems at water treatment facilities and ways to address them
Summary
Due to the anthropogenic factors, the quality of surface water is subject to rapid, mainly negative, changes; therefore, water treatment plants not always can meet the standards of the drinking water quality. Currently, many water treatment facilities are in need of upgrade, re-technologization and even reconstruction. In addition, significant changes in the actual water supply by the water facilities (decreasing, as a rule) do not always produce a positive effect on the technical and economic indicators of the water treatment facilities. Problems arising during the operation of the water treatment facilities at all stages of surface water purification – microfiltration, chemical treatment, mixing with chemicals and flocculation, sedimentation, filtration and wash water treatment are summarized. The methods used by MY PROJECT JSC in its projects to address such problems as the lack of the treatment efficacy, overspending of chemicals, short filter cycle, large water losses for process needs, discharge of untreated wash water, high purification cost are considered.

The technology of step-feed nitri-denitrification in municipal wastewater treatment: the analysis of options and case record
Summary
The experience of MY PROJECT JSC in designing biological treatment facilities (aeration tanks) at the municipal treatment facilities of the Russian Federation with the use of step-feed nitri-denitrification is considered. Over the past 10 years more than 20 treatment facilities have been upgraded and built with the introduction of a step-feed scheme; the author of the article made a personal commitment in commissioning of more than 10 biological treatment facilities for municipal and industrial wastewater processing. In order to observe the data confidentiality, no data is provided on the chemical analysis of the operation of structures; however, with the help of mathematical modeling, the specific features of the implementation of step-feed denitrification are shown. The key process engineering aspects of the implementation of the schemes of a step-feed process with a different number of stages (two and three), cases of the need to use or reject nitrate recycling, as well as using, where applicable, an additional substrate (methanol) with particularly stringent requirements to the nitrogen concentration at the effluent discharge are considered. Traditionally, it is believed that the scheme of step-feed denitrification is designed for nitrogen removal; however, additional positive modifications of step-feed denitrification have been also considered that provide for arranging biological removal of phosphorus. The design of an anaerobic zone upstream the first denitrification cascade (D1), the use of step-feed denitrification in the implementation of the process scheme of the University of Johannesburg (JHB), as well as the arrangement of step-feed of return sludge are considered.

The experience of implementing comprehensive solutions in industrial wastewater treatment
Summary
The practical experience of the implementation of local treatment facilities of industrial enterprises on a turnkey basis: dairy plants, poultry farms, enterprises for the production of soft drinks, chemical industries, etc. is summarized. The differences in the implemented schemes of local wastewater treatment in different industries are described, process indicators of the operation of the treatment facilities are presented. The use of mathematical modeling of biological treatment facilities (classical scheme, membrane bioreactor, etc.) provides for a high degree of convergence of the calculated design values and indicators obtained during commissioning. The automation system developed by the Russian engineers provides for arranging the unattended operation of the treatment facilities, improving the reliability of the facilities, and reducing the operating and maintenance costs. MY DAF, MY MBR and MY BION comprehensive solutions used in the implementation of the treatment facilities from design to commissioning, guarantee the achievement of the required effluent quality before discharging into a municipal sewer or a water body. 30 years of experience of MY PROJECT JSC in the implementation of integrated projects of wastewater treatment facilities gives a guarantee of successful implementation of projects in the future.

Advanced developments of Ecopolymer plant for wastewater treatment facilities
Summary
Ecopolymer company is well known in the market as a manufacturer of aeration systems. Over the past five years the company has expanded the product range adding a metal product line, upgraded production by installing advanced intelligent machines, and increased the staff of the design engineering bureau. The article describes the equipment, the production of which has been mastered over the past five years. The company strives to produce not individual types of products, but equipment packages designed to carry out a full cycle of process operations supported by the proprietary control systems. To date, the production facilities provide for the release of a full range of equipment for mechanical wastewater treatment – coarse and fine screens, conveyors and thickening presses for screenings, sand separators, grinders, etc. Particularly noteworthy is the innovative system for collecting floating substances in primary settling tanks in combination with the traditional scraper system. The produced sludge pumping systems have no rival among domestic manufacturers. Also, in addition to the well-known aeration systems, Ecopolymer Trade and Production Enterprise has developed AQUA-TOP 500, a new aeration system with a working capacity of 20–25 m3/h, that is equivalent to four 9” aerators.

Specific features of retrofitting mechanical wastewater treatment at sewage pumping stations
Summary
The process solutions applied at most of the sewage pumping stations built in the second half of the last century became obsolete, and the equipment installed in screen chambers was not designed to handle the current volumes and composition of wastes. Today, fibrous inclusions present in wastewater in large amounts pose certain difficulties in the operation of equipment. While upgrading the facilities, it is important to take into account the requirements of reliable and economical operation of the equipment in screen chambers, and significant differences in the conditions of its operation compared to the operation of similar equipment at the wastewater treatment facilities. The examples of the process solutions implemented by MY PROJECT JSC on the basis of the equipment designed by Ecopolymer TPE are presented. Comprehensive solutions have been proposed for pumping stations with the inlet manifold of various depth, including screens, as well as the equipment for grinding, transporting, dewatering and removing the screenings. The implementation of process solutions provides for maintenance personnel downsizing and reducing operating costs in general.
