RotaCut macerators manufactured by Vogelsang for the optimization of wastewater sludge treatment processes
Summary
Advanced grinding machinery for wastewater sludge handling that provides for improving the efficiency of wastewater treatment facilities is considered. It is noted that maintaining a constant application pressure of the contacting cutting parts in the automatic mode reduces the wear of their working surfaces, and also helps to reduce equipment downtime and improve the quality of grinding in order to optimize the technological process. The given application examples prove the feasibility and potential of using Vogelsang RotaCut macerators both for wastewater sludge handling prior to mechanical dewatering, and for sludge pretreatment before it is supplied to the digester. Based on the information presented in the paper it can be concluded that the optimization of wastewater sludge handling is possible through the use of RotaCut macerators.

Information security of the water supply and sanitation utilities as in the case of the Baikal natural area (in order of discussion)
Summary
A new concept for wastewater metering and charging for the sanitation services for the Russian Federation is considered. Introducing multilevel digital control of water consumption and sanitation services rendered to the customers, operating companies and treatment facilities in order to reduce the ecological risks and environmental damage from illegal wastewater disposal by the customers is proposed. A new mechanism for collecting and consolidating information data from water supply and sanitation facilities has been developed that provides for implementing the concept of sustainable water use, improving the quality of service of sanitation systems, reducing the operating costs and failure rate. It is proposed to introduce a number of amendments in regional legislation related to charging for water consumption and sanitation services.

Experience in Operation and Enhancement of Water Disinfection System with the Use of Sodium Hypochlorite
Summary
Over ten years ago at the water treatment facilities of the city of Seversk the operation of the disinfection system with the use of liquid chlorine was converted to the use of sodium hypochlorite. At present the modernization of equipment due to the application of aerohydrodynamic mixers was made, the processes of mixing the reagent with water being treated were intensified, the operation of reagent facilities was completely automated including the dosing of sodium hypochlorite proportional to water flowrate.

Specific features of retrofitting mechanical wastewater treatment at sewage pumping stations
Summary
The process solutions applied at most of the sewage pumping stations built in the second half of the last century became obsolete, and the equipment installed in screen chambers was not designed to handle the current volumes and composition of wastes. Today, fibrous inclusions present in wastewater in large amounts pose certain difficulties in the operation of equipment. While upgrading the facilities, it is important to take into account the requirements of reliable and economical operation of the equipment in screen chambers, and significant differences in the conditions of its operation compared to the operation of similar equipment at the wastewater treatment facilities. The examples of the process solutions implemented by MY PROJECT JSC on the basis of the equipment designed by Ecopolymer TPE are presented. Comprehensive solutions have been proposed for pumping stations with the inlet manifold of various depth, including screens, as well as the equipment for grinding, transporting, dewatering and removing the screenings. The implementation of process solutions provides for maintenance personnel downsizing and reducing operating costs in general.

Efficient control of water supply and distribution system of the Moscow megalopolis
Summary
The existing system of Moscow water supply is a comprehensive complex of engineering facilities that provide for uninterrupted supply of potable water to the city inhabitants. The main task of the system control is to assure delivering the required amount of high quality potable water alongside with maintaining optimal operation mode of all the water facilities. The main aspects of the efficient water supply control are as follows: predicting daily and hourly water consumption in the city; planning amount of delivery by the water treatment facilities; assuring operational control (of pressure, quality); computerizing control processes. Improving the efficiency of such a large-scale system may be possible only by investigating and introducing innovative solutions, integrated use of information technologies including GIS, modeling flow distribution in the water distribution network, and computerizing water delivery and distribution modes.

Efficiency of Natural Water Disinfection in the Course of Coagulation Treatment
Summary
Results of experimental and theoretical studies of the coagulation treatment of the Don water and monitoring of the concomitant process of its disinfection are presented. The mechanism of separation of algae, bacteria and viruses from water due to their sorption on aluminium hydroxide generated in the course of coagulation is described. The best effect of water disinfection observed during electrocoagulation is 93,8%. The use of this method makes it possible to abandon the primary water disinfection with chlorine, exclude a large-size reagent services and improve the ecological situation in connection with reduction of the volume of the generated sludge (waste of coagulation process).
