Commissioning – the key stage of putting treatment facilities into operation
Summary
The issues related to the commissioning of the equipment and wastewater treatment facilities are considered. A brief review of the history of commissioning the facilities in the Soviet Union and in present day Russia is given. The problem areas of adjusting every equipment assembly, the algorithm of work performance and the required results are shown. The attainment of sustainable performance is provided by quality and skilled commissioning. Correct visual evaluation of the equipment state carried out during the acceptance for commissioning procedure is very important. Nonobserved defects and faults in the process line will cause fast assembly fail which can result in an accident. The principles of «My Project» Company activities related to commissioning are presented. Special attention is paid to adjusting biological treatment in aeration tanks: from the front end engineering to the routine maintenance of the assembly.

Results of the commissioning activities of the first stage of biological treatment facilities in Ul’ianovsk
Summary
The results of pre-commissioning activities at the municipal wastewater treatment facilities of the city of Ul’ianovsk are presented. The works were carried out upon the project of upgrading the first stage of biological wastewater treatment facilities within the framework of the «Volga Rehabilitation» Federal Program as part of the «Ecology» National Project. The project of upgrading the first stage of biological treatment facilities is one of the shining examples of successful implementation providing achieving the design standards for water treatment, while the design and process commissioning works were carried out by one organization.

A modern system of engineering, technology, and environmental regulation of wastewater treatment facilities: results of 15 years of work
Summary
Transformation of the systems of engineering and environmental regulation of wastewater treatment facilities that has been on the way extremely lively over the past 15 years in this area, aiming to provide a comprehensive view of the work progress; the significance and interrelations of the developed documents; the reasons for the decisions taken and unresolved problems are considered. The main events in reforming the regulation systems are described in chronological order, from the transition from SNiP 2.04.03-85 to CP 32.13330-2012/2018, then to the development of the information and technical reference book ITS 10, and then to the family of the national standards dedicated to the life cycle of wastewater treatment facilities: GOST R 70953-2023 (main technical solutions), GOST R 72113-2025 (commissioning), GOST R 72005-2025 (technological regulations), GOST 25150 (terms and definitions). The following key issues addressed in regulating the life cycle of wastewater treatment facilities: basis of design; front-end engineering design (key technical solutions); basic data for the process engineering; process solutions; calculation algorithms; and streamlining the branch terminology are considered. The final section outlines numerous unresolved issues in regulating wastewater treatment facilities in both engineering and environmental areas.

Stages of launching a biological treatment plant at the wastewater treatment facilities with dosing easily oxidable organic matter
Summary
Issues related to commissioning a biological treatment plant at the facilities for household and similar in composition wastewater treatment during the trial start of the treatment facilities are considered. The stages of commissioning a biological treatment plant at the wastewater treatment facilities with «inoculating» activated sludge from the operating biological treatment facilities and with dosing easily oxidable organic matter are considered in detail. The equipment configuration of the WWTP-9 produced by Germes Group is described. All stages of the biological treatment plant commissioning are considered through the example of the start-up of WWTP-9 with the use of numerous experimental data. The periods of biological treatment plant commissioning stages have been determined. The problems of adjusting the biological treatment plant and the ways of their elimination to achieve the required result are presented. The technology used at the WWT facilities provides for the effluent quality that meets the requirements for the discharge into a water body of commercial fishing importance. чения.
