Optimization of water supply and distribution in the municipal water supply system

Summary

The integrity of the water distribution system of any city or community has been one of the main factors that provide for the reliability of the entire water supply system. When developing projects for the upgrade of water supply and distribution systems an actual state of movement of water flows in pipelines with steady losses should be obtained. Based on this data the water head in areas with low geodetic marks can be adjusted by installing network pressure regulators. Their use allows increasing the efficiency and integrity of the water supply system by reducing the failure rate in the areas of low and stabilized pressure as well as by reducing the static and dynamic load on the pipelines. The degree of reliability of the water supply and distribution system depends not only on the optimality of the decisions made at the design and construction stages but also on the set of measures for the operation of the facilities. Reduction of operating costs is achieved by optimizing operating modes and maintaining the technical and energy parameters of the structures that change with wear, aging, reducing the throughput capacity of the water supply and distribution system.

Purification of storm water from the territories of industrial enterprises

Summary

The state of surface runoff disposal systems in Russia has been considered. In many cities the systems of atmospheric precipitation removal are in an extremely unsatisfactory condition since they have hardly undergone any upgrade. During intensive precipitation and heavy snowmelt rain and melt water accumulate on the territory of industrial enterprises. At the same time the treatment of surface runoff is complicated by the increase in volumes of wastewater and the physical deterioration of treatment facilities. As a result surface runoff containing suspended solids, oil products and other pollutants enters water bodies without treatment producing a negative impact on the ecosystem of water bodies. The characteristic of the composition of surface runoff of industrial enterprises is given on the example of a coal preparation plant in the city of Novosibirsk. Methods of treatment are considered. In order to reduce the harmful effects of surface runoff on water bodies at the Novosibirsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (Sibstrin) storm water treatment technology has been developed that provides for the effluent discharge into open water bodies or usage in recirculating water supply of enterprises.

Digital Vodokanal of Novosibirsk – guarantee of efficiency

Summary

More than 20 years MUE «Gorvodokanal» of Novosibirsk has been developing and constantly improving the automated process control system during operation. The first process control systems were developed following the classical scheme. The evolution of automated process control systems is the process of transition from automated mode to intelligent automated mode. The basis of intellectuality is software tools that provide for processing information from digital sensors. To ensure reliability and achieve high performance the developed automated systems are based on systemic and integrated approach adapted to the tasks of designing projects and introducing local automated process control systems for water purification, water supply and wastewater disposal systems. The systemic approach provides for improving the intelligence of the local and general system of automated process control as well as staff qualifications and responsibility.
