Scientific and practical principles of regulating technogenic pollutants in municipal wastewater
Summary
The results of statistical processing actual data evidence the lack of linear relationship between technogenic pollutant concentrations at the input of the municipal wastewater treatment facilities and effluent after biological treatment. It proves the lack of the principles of the technical approach used to regulate the customers before 2013 and confirms the fact that the permissible pollution discharge limits shall be set exclusively on the assumption of preventing any negative impact on the public wastewater disposal systems. Permissible pollution concentration limits have been developed and proposed for introduction into the Rules of cold water supply and wastewater disposal.
Key words
treatment facilities , municipal wastewater , industrial wastewater , technogenic pollutants , permissible concentration limit for effluent discharge into the public sewer

Investigating corrosion deposits in drinking water supply and distribution pipelines
Summary
The results of investigating the sludge and deposit structure in drinking water supply and distribution pipelines are presented. The literature and experimental data on the structure and composition of corrosion deposits on the pipe walls depending on water quality, pipe material, diameter and age were analyzed. The data on physical and chemical composition of deposits and photomicrographs of corrosion deposits received with the help of a scanning electron microscope are presented.

Conditioning underground water of the Amur water intake (the city of Komsomolsk-on-Amur)
Summary
The results of investigating conditioning underground water of the Amur water intake of Komsomolsk-on-Amur are given. At present the construction of in situ deironing-demanganation facilities is underway; however the test operation of the first stage showed that the water quality did not meet the normative standard. An alternative technology was suggested, i.e. chemical treatment that ensured water stabilization and elimination of iron and manganese. In-process tests take into account all possible scenarios of operating the integrated aquifer treatment facilities under construction.

Comparing the terminology and methods of activated carbon analyses according to the standards – GOST (State Standard) and ASTM, TM, AWWA
Summary
The comparison of international and Russian methods of activated carbon analyses is presented. The comparison of the terms used was made on the basis of the standards – GOST, ASTM, AWWA, EN and standards adopted by certain activated carbon manufacturers. It is shown that the methods of activated carbon evaluation according to the international standards ensure more definite results, and provide for overall estimation of activated carbon application properties. The attention is draw to the fact that while considering similar parameters with the use of domestic and international standards there is certain difference between testing methods which makes the comparison of the results problematic.

The technique of performing optimization calculations of the water supply and distribution system with two water sources
Summary
The strategy of managing the system of water supply and distribution with two water sources shall be selected on the basis of optimizing the daily water yield of the sources by periods of hourly irregularity of water consumption. The given approach will provide for the efficient use of the regulating tanks and increase the efficiency of pumping equipment. The technique of performing optimization calculations for the system of water supply and distribution with two sources developed on the basis of the results of investigations carried out earlier at NII VODGEO OJSC is presented.
Key words
