Wastewater Aftertreatment on Granular Bed Filters
Summary
Problems of the wastewater aftertreatment on granular filters of different design are described. Advantages of Ecopolymer drainage systems at reconstruction of these filters are shown. On the basis of generalization of its firsthand knowledge the Ecopolymer Group of Companies in the course of designing of wastewater aftertreatment uses rapid filters with descending filtration, air-water washing and rinse water low discharge system consisting of Ecopolymer sand-catching chutes and stream-guiding protuberances. Filters are equipped with the Ecopolymer drainage-distribution system consisting of drainage filters and Ecopolymer aerators. Conditions required for successful operation of wastewater aftertreatment rapid filters are defined. Results of operation of such filters designed by the Ecopolymer Company are presented.

Enhancement of Efficiency of Water Supply Stations Operation
Summary
Issues of intensification of processes of coagulation treatment of low-temperature, low-turbidity and high-chromaticity water from surface sources of water supply using the reactor-clarifiers of a new design are considered. The reactor-clarifier combines advantages of sludge blanket clarifiers and granular-bed filters, has a low operational cost and reliability. The efficient complex technology of treatment of potable water from surface sources developed on the basis of experimental studies is presented. This technology increases the efficiency of operation of reconstructed water supply stations at minimal working costs. The quality of potable water treated meets the specified requirements.

Research studies of the efficiency of chemical technology for tertiary treatment of plating wastewater
Summary
The purpose of this study was a supplementary estimation of the effectiveness and optimal process parameters of a single-stage filtration technology for removing heavy metal ions and other contaminants from plating wastes. The technology was developed at NSUACE (Sibstrin) over 10 years ago. The results of the research studies conducted with actual wastewater from an operating plating plant are presented. The essence of the proposed tertiary treatment method is the conversion of heavy metal ions and hydroxides remaining in the effluent after neutralization and clarification in settling tanks with sodium sulfide into sulfides with a solubility millions of times lower than that of hydroxides. The experiments were conducted using various types of filter media (albitophyre, Sorbent MS, and Gidroantratsit A), with varying filtration rates, dosages, and chemical types. Optimal purification parameters were determined, as well as the application areas of single- and two-stage systems. Following single-stage treatment the effluent can be freely discharged into municipal sewers and water bodies used for drinking and household or cultural and social purposes, as well as used in the recycling water supply of plating plants. After two-stage filtration through clarification and sorption filters, the MPCs are achieved for discharging the effluent into fishery water bodies.
