Substantiation of the efficiency of installing emergency storage tanks at wastewater pumping stations
Summary
Improving the reliability of wastewater disposal systems is provided by measures that prevent the intrusion of raw wastewater into the ground and spills onto the land surface. Such measures include backing up pressure and gravity pipeline sections of the network, using their accumulating capacity and installing emergency storage tanks. Based on the life cycle cost assessment, studies of the effectiveness of using emergency storage tanks at wastewater pumping stations were carried out. It is shown that with a certain length of pressure pipelines of two or more strings, the option of installing emergency storage tanks may be most economically viable. As a result, dependences of the efficiency of installing emergency storage tanks on the pressure pipeline length and pumping station capacity were obtained. For wastewater disposal systems in Irkutsk, all wastewater pumping stations are divided into two groups with emergency storage tanks and two pressure pipelines. The results of the study will be useful in updating the scheme for the development of the water supply and wastewater disposal systems of the city.

Optimization and technical and economic evaluation of the process flow schemes of wastewater treatment of a plant for chicken egg advanced processing
Summary
The results of searching for the optimal process scheme for wastewater treatment of an enterprise for advanced processing of chicken eggs are presented. The optimization was carried out in terms of the life cycle cost (LCC) for a period of 25 years operation for the newly built treatment facilities with a capacity of 600 m3/day. The considered options include mechanical, one- and two-stage aerobic biological treatment in a membrane bioreactor with nitri-denitrification, with primary chemical pressure flotation with different doses of coagulant and without flotation. Process design was made on the basis of experimentally determined technological and kinetic parameters. The economic feasibility of primary physical and chemical purification was proved, and what is more, the most cost-effective was the treatment with Aqua-Aurat™-14 coagulant trademark with a dose of 125 mg/l as Al2O3, corresponding to the highest efficiency of physical and chemical purification. Retrofitting chemical flotation into the process flow scheme provided for reducing LCC by 7.7%. It is shown that with the availability of physical and chemical treatment dividing biological treatment into two stages virtually produces no economic effect on LCC. Taking into account the lowest energy consumption and the size of the structures the most useful option turned out to be the one with primary physical and chemical treatment and single-stage aeration tanks. The cost of wastewater treatment in this case was 99.66 RUB/m3, or 18.62 RUB/kg BODtot. For all the considered options in the LCC structure, the capital costs had the highest value – 22.2–27.9%, the payroll fund – 17.3–19.2%, equipment replacement – 17.4–19%.

Estimation of the technical and economic expediency of biological wastewater treatment facilities for oil extraction enterprises using a biocenosis of aerobic thermophilic microorganisms
Summary
A process flow scheme was developed for the biological treatment of wastewater of oil extraction production enterprises using aerobic thermophilic microorganisms immobilized on inert media. Based on the constants of the equations of enzymatic kinetics of biological wastewater treatment obtained during the experimental studies, a methodology for calculating the facilities was adapted, and formulas were substantiated to calculate the residence time in aeration facilities providing for a set treatment level. A technical and economic analysis showed the feasibility of using the proposed biological treatment method in bioreactors with a biocenosis of aerobic thermophilic microorganisms immobilized on a biological media block. Based on the calculation of the life cycle cost, the economic feasibility of the developed technology for the treatment of wastewater from oil extraction production was proven; the prime cost was 25.68 rubles/m3.

Development of the method of life cycle costing of the equipment, systems and facilities for water supply and wastewater disposal
Summary
The Expert-Technological Board of the Russian Water and Wastewater Association has developed «The method of life cycle costing of the equipment, systems and facilities for water supply and wastewater disposal». The method was presented at X Conference of Russian Vodokanals (September 19–22, 2017, Kaliningrad), and at the present moment it is under approval of the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service. The analysis of the life cycle cost estimate methods – international (for the purpose of the compliance with the state procurements) and domestic (their use is not of system character). The calculation dependencies are presented also with account of discounting expenditures of the current cost in time. The categories of pertainance of the calculation objective are presented: the first – equipment, products; the second – capital construction projects. The adaptation of the estimate indicators to the international practice is accompanied with the support of the generally accepted abbreviation to simplify the procedure of the foreign representatives participating in the Russian tenders. The references to the examples of the approbation of the life cycle cost calculation in accordance with the functional specific features of the developed method related to the technical and technologic aspects as well as to the projects – research and design and experimental, public-private partnership, performance and leasing contracts are given.

The cost of the life cycle as a criterion of choosing a filtration package for membrane bioreactors
Summary
The method of evaluating the cost of the life cycle of the filtration package of membrane bioreactors for biological wastewater treatment is presented. The key parameters of choosing MBR-technology, the example of calculating the cost of the equipment life cycle are given. The allocation of the guarantee commitments between the customer and the supplier is shown. The presented method of evaluating the attraction of using membrane bioreactors on the basis of the analysis of the life cycle of the filtration package provides for the accurate computation of the capital and operational expenditures of the membrane filtration units at the wastewater treatment facilities of various capacities to justify the choice of the filtration package supplier. The conditions for the optimal allocation of risks between the membrane manufacturer and the customer are formulated.
