Investigating the efficiency of using corrosion inhibitors for conditioning of water with high salt content
Summary
The results of experimental investigations in one of the recycling water supply systems at the gas processing plant experiencing the problem of high-rate biological growth are presented. Recycling water from the system was characterized with high salt content, high chloride and sulphate concentrations. The use of inhibitors in water treatment provides for reducing the corrosion rate in heat exchangers and pipelines.

Assessment of the Sanitary Hazard Degree of Silicon Compounds in Natural and Potable Water
Summary
The survey of literature on the role of silicon in the human body, its toxicokinetics is conducted; the critical analysis of scientific substantiation of hygienic standards of maximum concentration of silicon compounds in natural and potable water is made. The attention is paid to the absence of standards concerning the silicon content in water in the foreign standard specifications because of non-actuality of the problem. It is proposed to cancel the standard of limit content of silicon in the domestic normative base in connection with the absence of its proper reasonableness.

Solving the problem of waste discharge of stand-alone industrial facilities
Summary
Advanced technologies of wastewater non-biological treatment with reverse osmosis are presented. Formation of concentrate in the process of reverse osmosis is a most difficult problem. The suggested technology provides for the reduction of concentrate flow to less than 1% of the total waste flow subjected to treatment (corresponding to the activated sludge flow removed to sludge beds at biological treatment facilities). Since the concentrate flow depends on the salt concentration in wastewater to be treated it is recommended to supply water with low salt concentration to the water supply system of the facilities. The comprehensive approach to the problem of reducing the discharge of industrial wastes in the environment specifies the use of membrane units for water conditioning (in boiler-houses), drinking water treatment, wastewater treatment and reuse as process water (in irrigation, in heating systems).

Utilization of reverse osmosis concentrate to obtain commercial products of sodium sulfate and sodium chloride
Summary
The technology of evaporating concentrate of reverse osmosis process of Novoshakhtinsk wastewater with the purpose of obtaining commercial products of sodium sulfate and sodium chloride salts from is presented. The studies were conducted with model clear solutions for the development of process solutions to be implemented at the wastewater treatment facilities where wastewater with the salt content up to 3000 mg/dm3 was supplied. A process flow scheme with the methodology and description of the technological process of obtaining salts at the site of the Novoshakhtinsk wastewater treatment facilities is proposed. The results of several research stages are presented, the nuances of the technological process are described, the crystallization temperature from +2.9 to +3.5°C is selected, and the obtained final salt products are compared with the requirements of regulatory documents. The recommended process flow scheme eliminating all shortcomings will provide for improving the purification efficiency and reliability of the operation of the treatment facilities. The implementation of the proposed technology helps to reduce operating costs and allows solving an important environmental problem, i. e. waste transformation into a secondary material resource.
