Investigating the dynamic mode of a heating system operation

Summary

Main specifications of the hydraulic mode of the advanced heating systems are given. The standard hydraulic calculation does not provide for the complete amount of information on the heating system operation. Accordingly a mathematic instrument (software-model) was developed to calculate a hydraulic circuit of an advanced heating system in a transit mode of operation. Hydraulic calculations of the two heating systems of similar structure, however, equipped with different balancing fittings were carried out. Typical tendencies of the system active elements operation were analyzed. Recommendations on specific use of the control valves were formulated.

Study of the nature of mechanical destruction of a cast iron radiator should there be a water surge in a heating system

Summary

One of the types of failures in heating systems is a heating medium leak due to depressurization of heating systems. It may be caused by mechanical destruction of heating system elements (for example, a heating device) due to the occurrence of water surge. The work objective was studying the nature of the destruction of a cast-iron radiator should there be a water surge in the heating system. The theoretical foundations of the water surge occurrence were analyzed. A test bench simulating the occurrence of a water surge in a heating system was used for the research. A series of bench tests was conducted, the characteristics of damage to a cast-iron radiator due to the occurrence of a water surge in the heating system were determined, the analysis of the broken-up sections of the cast-iron radiator was given, and conclusions were drawn based on the results of the study. It was shown that the nature of the destruction of a cast-iron radiator in a heating system as a result of a water surge had unique features: the remote sections relative to the heating medium supply side were subject to the destruction; the destruction occurred in the central part of the radiator section; flat sections with an area of 10–15 cm2 broke off the radiator section.

Improvement of Energy Efficiency of Pipeline Systems of a Building

Summary

Problems of the power saving in construction can be solved by means of reducing heat losses through the enclosing structures, installing heat and water meters, using nontraditional sources of heat supply et al. Issues of energy saving in pipeline engineering systems in the course of designing are not studied enough while a considerable part of power consumption by the systems of engineering support of buildings (up to 80%) falls on the drives of pumps and ventilators of pipeline networks: heating, water supply, ventilation, and air conditioning. Economic indexes are considered as criteria of energy efficiency of pipeline networks. The method of reduced expenditures is used for calculations.

Heat Accumulating Systems in Heat Supply of Private Dwelling Houses

Summary

An innovation design of a heat accumulator differing qualitatively from known domestic and foreign analogues has been developed. The principle of operation of the heat accumulator is based on a phase transition (solid substance – liquid) of a heat accumulating material – paraffin. Paraffin heat accumulators can be used in the systems of heat supply, heating and hot water supply of private dwelling houses and small blocks of flats. Owing to the high effective design and up-to-date materials the heat accumulator can reduce significantly expenditure of heat and electric energy. In many cases heat accumulating electric systems of the heat supply can prove to be economically attractive.
